The Menzies Research Institute is an institute of the University of Tasmania

Menzies Foundation

The Menzies Foundation was largely responsible for the formation of the Menzies Research Institute and has generously supported the Institute since its inception.

A Tasmanian Icon

The Tasmanian Government has recognised the Institute's status, achievements and place in the Tasmanian community by awarding icon status under the Department of Economic Development's Tasmanian Icons Program.

The Icons Program showcases the very best that Tasmania has to offer, nationally and internationally. The Menzies Research Institute is one of three Tasmanian Icons recognised under the program.

Collaborating Centre

The Menzies Research Institute is designated as a World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs).

In this role the Institute conducts research on the prevention and management of NCDs in the Western Pacific Region, collaborates in the development of databases concerning lifestyle and related NCD risk factors, trains health workers in programs to combat NCDs and supports the regional network through use of its resources.
