Menzies is comprised of approximately 330 people. Of these, there are 116 researchers, 57 research higher degree students, 20 Honours students, five undergraduate students, 64 research assistants and research support staff and the remainder are management, administration staff and volunteers. Researchers and students come from diverse backgrounds in science and medicine.
In December, Menzies will move into its new building with state of the art laboratories and equipment. Menzies will be sharing the new building with the School of Medicine and the Executive of the Faculty of Health Science, UTAS.
The UTAS Medical Science building is ideally placed in the centre of Hobart, across the road from the Royal Hobart Hospital and close to all public transport. A second $90 million building is anticipated to be completed in the year 2012 on the same site.
