Quantitative Methods in Clinical Research - Oct 2014

Menzies Research Institute Tasmania provided an interactive weekend course on research skills for advanced trainees on the weekend of October 4-5, 2014. The course was provided with assistance from Servier. The course introduced attendees to the skills needed to produce and publish a project.

The sessions included:

  • an introduction to clinical epidemiology - including information about study design, questionnaires and publicly available data
  • basic and advanced analysis including principles of modeling
  • clinical trials - including protocol documents and power calculations
  • systematic review and meta-analysis
  • health economics

Presenters included Professors Tom Marwick and Mark Nelson (analysis, trials), Alison Venn (epidemiology), Tania Winzenberg (systematic reviews) and Andrew Palmer (health economics), and Associate Professor Leigh Blizzard (biostats).
