Menzies researcher, Ms Catherine Blizzard has won the overall category prize of the Science and Technology Award at the Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards.

Menzies researcher, Ms Catherine Blizzard has won the overall category prize of the Science and Technology Award at the Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards.

The Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards recognises, encourages and rewards the achievements of young Tasmanians who excel in their area of expertise.

The awards were announced and presented at a special Gala Awards Presentation Dinner at Wrest Point Casino on Saturday 21 April, 2012. The Presentation Dinner was attended by 350 guests.

There were four finalists for the Science and Technology award, with three of those finalists from Menzies - Ms Clare Smith, Dr Dawn Dore and Ms Catherine Blizzard.

Menzies' Acting Director, Professor Alison Venn said she was delighted with the result.

"On behalf of Menzies I would like to congratulate Clare and Dawn for being selected as finalists and a special congratulations to Cathy Blizzard who was named the overall category prize winner of the Science and Technology Award."
