Our Culture

Students make a significant contribution to the research output of the Menzies Research Institute.

The Menzies Research Institute is well-established to nurture and develop up and coming talented researchers through Honours and PhD programs across 13 research themes:

Menzies provides a wide range of research opportunities for postgraduate students to discover and reach their full potential.

Director, Professor Simon Foote, is a strong advocate for graduate education and says, "We offer our young researchers an environment in which they can develop and succeed. The high achievement of our graduates ensures their entry into prestigious laboratories overseas for further training and experience."

In December, Menzies Research Institute will move into its new building with state of the art laboratories and equipment. Menzies will be sharing the new building with the School of Medicine and the Executive of the Faculty of Health Science, UTAS.

The UTAS Medical Science building where Menzies will soon be located is ideally placed in the centre of Hobart, across the road from the Royal Hobart Hospital and close to all public transport. A second $90 million building is anticipated to be completed in the year 2012 on the same site.
